Smarter Smiles
We create fun and engaging environments for promoting good oral health to vulnerable children and adults, and their families and carers.
Who Benefits

Children in schools and early years settings
We provide Oral Health Education and a Fluoride Varnish programme as well as an accreditation scheme for up to 45 schools and nurseries in the most deprived areas of Cornwall, championing a ‘whole-school’ approach to oral health promotion and prevention.

Children and adults with additional needs
We deliver targeted support for those at higher risk of poor oral health due to complex health conditions and other factors, supporting them, their families and carers in adopting good oral health practices.

Our community
We work in partnership to support the oral health of those who find access to healthcare challenging, particularly those experiencing homelessness, travellers, drug and alcohol misusers and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Children and older adults in care facilities
We create fun and engaging environments for promoting good oral health to children and adults, and their families and carers, including training the trainer activities to widen the reach of our oral health programme.
About Us
Smarter Smiles builds on the legacy of the successful Brighter Smiles oral health programme which, between 2015 and 2023, delivered toothbrushing clubs, fluoride varnishing and oral health education to around 6,500 children each year in areas of high decay. Our combined oral health promotion team not only continues this work with children but complements it by reaching other vulnerable groups, increasing access and improving patient awareness of good oral health and access to NHS dental services.

Making a difference in partnership
Smarter Smiles is delivered by Smile Together Dental CIC in partnership with Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise and Cornwall Council’s Public Health team.
Together we’re making a sustainable difference to the oral health of children and adults with additional needs across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Creating engaging environments that encourage individuals to make positive and sustainable behaviour changes to improve their oral health and well-being.
